How to make a portable fire starter kit

How to Make a Lasting Firestarter

Happy Camper’s love to go camping. And we love s’mores even more! For those delicious s’mores you need a campfire. This camping hack kicks off the fire and keeps it HOT so the fire will last for hours.

You will need:

  • 1 empty paper egg carton
  • 1 bag of charcoal fire starters
  • 1 empty paper towel roll
  • A handful of dryer lint

Step 1: Empty Egg Carton

Take out all the eggs in the egg carton. If you have done this or had an empty egg carton move on to step 2. Make sure it is a paper egg carton. Plastic and styrofoam will just melt around the charcoal and the hack will not work.

Step 2: Fill Egg Carton

Place a charcoal fire starter in place of where each egg was.

Step 3: Fill Empty Paper Towel Roll

Fill the empty paper towel roll with dryer lint. Make sure the dryer lint is spaced out inside the roll. This will ensure there is a little bit of oxygen in the roll.

Step 4: Setup Fire Starters in a Fire Pit

Place Fire Starters

Place the fire starters in the middle of the fire pit with room for the firewood.

Step 5: Setup Firewood & Light

Setup the firewood. We have stacked this one in a cone/teepee style. However, you can set it up in other configurations: log cabin or pyramid. See other types here.
