Historic Taft Bay
Historic Taft Bay is a shore adjacent hub of Lincoln City, and the best destination to experience the unique history and culture of this whimsical oceanside town. Taft Bay Historic District holds something for everyone, from local boutiques and museums to the oldest bar you can find on the Oregon coast. Learn more about the unique history of how Lincoln City came to be at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, which sends you back in time to the foundation of the city and illuminates the significance of mysterious glass floats that can be found along its beaches.
Whatever else you do while visiting Taft Bay, don’t forget to pencil in a pitstop to locally renowned Mo’s Restaurant for a bowl of their legendary clam chowder. Did we mention it comes in a sourdough bread bowl? We’re drooling just thinking about it! Mo’s is located right along the shoreline and offers incredible views of Siletz Bay as you dine. After a meal you won’t soon forget, take a stroll down to the waterfront for a leisurely beach walk where you can view fishermen and sea lions alike enjoying a bountiful ocean harvest.

2. Lincoln City Outlets
You’re already on vacation, so why not treat yourself on a budget? Lincoln City Outlets is home to over 50 designer brands, making it one of the most desired shopping destinations in the Pacific Northwest. The sprawling lawns and winding walkways of this outdoor shopping center lead you to and from a plethora of stores full of undeniable deals. From Coach to The North Face, whether you’re gearing up for your next adventure or seeking gifts for loved ones back home, the Lincoln City Outlets is one spot you’re not going to want to miss.

3. Simply Visit The Beach!
With seven miles of soft sandy beaches to explore, from Roads End State Recreation Site to Siletz Bay, the beach offers endless activities to keep you engaged for hours, days, and weeks if you’ve got the time!
Engage in a local favorite pastime and try your hand at clamming and fishing. Gear can be easily rented at several locations around town, and at the end of a beautiful day on the beach, you can find yourself with everything you need to cook your own stupendous seafood dinner.
Depending on the time of year or time of day, the array of views available from the beaches of Lincoln City know no bounds. During the spring and fall, pods of gray whales can be seen on their biannual migration from Mexico to Alaska. Keep your eyes on the horizon for a feathered spray of seawater, or head to Lincoln City’s most popular whale watching spots at Roads End State Park and Inn at Spanish Head.
If you don’t find yourself in Lincoln City during the whale migration, never fear. Every clear evening boasts its own miraculous views with heart-stopping Pacific Ocean sunsets. Bring a picnic, some blankets, and build your own bonfire while you sit back and watch the sun slowly sink beyond the horizon at the end of a long day of exploring.

4. Drift Creek Falls
The adventurous spirit would be amiss if a hike to Drift Creek Falls was not at the top of their to-do list. This dog-friendly 3-mile hike can be found 15 miles from the city center deep within the lush Coastal Range forest. Breath deeply as you hike out to a gorgeous 240-foot suspension bridge leading you down and adjacent to a striking 75-foot waterfall. The well-maintained and well-graded trail makes the slight elevation gain easily accessible for all walks of life. In the springtime, wildflowers abound, and it is an excellent location for spotting wildlife year-round. This trail is operated by the Forest Service and requires either a $5 Recreation Pass or an Annual Northwest Forest Pass, small change compared to the natural beauty waiting to be experienced.

5. Finders Keepers
Glass floats (beautiful blown orbs of colored glass) as are iconic to Lincoln City as their ocean views, and their famous Finders Keepers program brings thousands of visitors from near and far every year to participate in the ultimate treasure hunt. Over 3,000 handmade globes of glass are hidden along the shoreline, waiting to be discovered by beach goers on a daily basis. If you find it, you keep it, and no two of these locally made gems are the same.
Unfortunately due to the current pandemic, the Finders Keepers program is temporarily on hold. However, that doesn’t stop the artists behind Finders Keepers from wanting to share their treasures with those who are searching. The Finders Keepers: Hope Edition is keeping the light alive by giving away glass floats to five lucky winners every week!
However, if you find yourself in Lincoln City and are still craving your own experience with these glass works of art, you can call ahead and reserve your very own glass blowing demonstration with the Lincoln City Glass Center. Watch glass come to life as a master creates your chosen work of art before your very eyes (from a safe 6 feet of distance).
